Otoplasty or Prominent Ears
Otoplasty is the solution for adults and children that allow a change in the size and/or position of the ears pinning them back to have a normal
appearance. Prominent ears can frequently cause psychological problems, especially in children. This procedure can be performed starting at 5 or 6
years of age, time when the ears stop growing. The best candidates for this procedure are men, women and children with prominent or protruding ears.
This procedure is performed under general anesthesia for children and local anesthesia for adults. It takes between one to two hours. Patients must wear a bandage for 2 to 7 days. Patient will present inflammation for a couple of weeks. They can return to work or go to school in an average of 3 days.
