These factors when taken to excess or get out of control, cause a hormonal imbalance and it is when the fist gynecomastia symptoms appear.

Description

The gynecomastia cosmetic surgery has as an objective: define and give shape to the chest area. The surgery can give the male breast a toned appearance, chest symmetry with a more natural look. In addition gynecomastia can help boost the self-esteem in individuals that feel restrained because of their appearance.

Method

The cosmetic surgery can be done under regional anesthesia, or in some cases under local anesthesia and sedation. The incision is made in a not visible place: at the edge of the areola, performing the procedure through this incision, the excess glandular tissue is removed as well as the fat and the excess skin. If patient presents an excess of glandular fat, the cosmetic surgeon will also perform a liposuction to remove it. (A small incision is made, less than 1 centimeter) in a non-visible area; and through a cannula the fat is suctioned and removed.

Candidates
Candidates for this procedure

Due to the fact that each body is different; there is no way to determine 100% if someone is a good candidate or not without a doctor´s evaluation, as general characteristics we can mention that good candidates are those men that are finished with their hormonal development, have elastic, firm skin or that after weight lost still have fat in the chest area or they have a slim appearance with excess glandular tissue.

Recovery

Recovery is not painful; gynecomastia can be an ambulatory surgery, meaning that you can be release from the clinic the same day, although if patient came by himself or his trip back home is long, we recommend spending the night in the clinic. Patient must rest for at least a week before going back to regular activities and returning to work. A compression garment must be used for approximately 3 to 5 weeks after surgery, to make sure the skin stays firm and it scars correctly.
